Helen Smith Owen, a certified Texas public school teacher for twenty-seven years, is still working today many years later as a helper teacher for special education children. She majored in elementary education with a minor in history, and the college she attended in Beaumont, Texas gave her advanced standing for her classes at the University of Stockholm where she studied Swedish. While at the University of Stockholm, she traveled widely in Europe. She also lived for a time in Puerto Rico and Venezuela. Now a servant of Jesus, she currently makes her home in San Antonio and, at 75, began her writing career.
